GLOBAL SEARCH FOR LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

GLOBAL SEARCH FOR LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
Here is some hopeful inspiration to all the single mama's out there. Traveling is possible, magical earthly adventures are out there and lessons from a variety of cultures will bring wisdom to this family from the west. I want to rest from the feeling of isolation that I am sure many overworked mothers in western culture would feel, where community and local knowledge is losing value. I want to show images of beautiful families over the world, and feel awake again with the need for us to survive and harmonise with nature. Pictures will consume most of this blog, and the rainbow trail will be sought. Just us our family in and of the world... First stop Indonesia.

Meltdowns...

We have had a couple of these, Mallee has become quite attached to almost any object that come with us. From the bag being checked in at the airport to the lost flip flop shoe up the street he has suffered a few minor to major meltdowns. These consist of screaming at the lost object, with the shoe he was not aware until a lovely Indonesian lady alerted him to the lost shoe, while she was telling Mallee what a lovely shoe it was he began to scream "SHOE" "SHOOOOEEEE" this screaming lasted all the way back to the house. I find myself ordering a large Bintang during these times and dabbling in the odd cigarette. We did find the shoe again sometime later yet by that point Mallee had no interest in my showing him a single shoe. However we seem to be making progress and Mallee is shifting into exploration mode and marveling in the super exotic and thriving creatures, he spent a great deal of time playing with a crab in the sand last night, to watch this is a delight.

Some of his most favorite times are, hopping into a air-conditioned car, entering a air conditioned building and going home to sleep with the air conditioner on. This now is what he is doing, It is relatively quiet here apart from the dance music sounding in the distance. Sounds like a very heavy party for 3pm.

So we are adapting slowly, we still have some time to Nusa Pendina where we will test our skills and relationship with out as many western comforts, I myself am looking forward to it, restoring a balance between spiritual and material. Nusa Pendina is also renowned for its white and black magic and spiritual healers. I found out yesterday that every 15 days is magic day in Bali!
Mallee and I enjoying a moment together in UBUD, this was pre hair cut, he begun scratching like mad and eventually got heat rash. I was going to get his hair yet the scratching got that bad that I proceeded to hack it at 8am in the morning with scissors.

After hair cut, I was impressed with my work, the flower is a nice touch to.

Mallee and a little friend at the market in a stand off. This market runs every morning and is by standards one of the best in BALI, rows and rows of produce and by night this turns into a prepared food market.

This temple in UBUD was built in the early 1100's and rediscovered in the 1900's

We had a meal last night of this fish (spc unknown) flash fried, marinated calamari, Nasi Goreng, two beers, strawberry juice, and a Indonesian fruit dessert all for only $18!! The seafood here is fresh and local just what constitutes a feel good meal.
